Rarely do I tell of the countless hours in the Maastricht University library or the hours of intense lectures or massive group projects which occur in my life here in the Netherlands. I figure that the majority of people reading this blog may get bored if I write a summary of the legality, economics, institutional structure or any other complex aspect of the European Union. The program that I am in is called European Public Affairs. Suffice it to say that we live and breathe the facts about Europe that most would never bother themselves with.
Though I am reluctant to bore you with the details of what I am learning, I have to take the time to briefly mention the amazing people I am in this program with. There are 28 EPA students this year, and I am thankful for having this opportunity to get to know each of them. I see these people every day, spending hours pouring over books, charts, and having heated discussions about seemingly trivial aspects of processes or systems. Enough is revealed about our group when one realizes that when class is not in session one can typically, no matter what day of the week, find classmates in the depths of the library. With the intense number of hours we spend together, I can already not imagine Maastricht without them. I am so thankful to have these people in my life. This coming week is Thanksgiving at home in the U.S., and there is a tradition at Thanksgiving of expressing thanks for those things you are grateful for in life. I am thankful that I was placed with such an amazing group for my master's degree.
Wish I was in your class again... these people are Lucky. > David
